run-of-the-mill children’s books lying around

Shaun Tan’s “Eric” tells the story of a tiny exchange student who seems a bit strange to his host family.

The book is for children ages 7 and up, but in my opinion also suitable for adults.

You can find out here why I kept this book and have even grown very fond of it.

Eric
I thought this children’s book looked a bit unusual compared to the usual ones. And that’s exactly why I bought this book. We already have enough

I was all the happier when I realized while reading that this book also makes you think and that you don’t immediately understand the meaning behind the story – at least that’s how it was for me, maybe I was confused for longer than others…

What is it about?

“Eric” *, whose head can already be seen on the book cover, is a small, strange exchange student who attracts attention from his host family because of his peculiarities.

He is someone who asks unusual questions to which you can usually only answer with “That’s just how it is” because you have never really thought about it yourself and don’t know a better answer.

He is interested in the little things in life that lie on the ground and that no one else pays attention to.

And one day Eric says a quick goodbye and leaves. The host family austria mobile database wonders if he didn’t like it or if he was angry. But then they discover what Eric left them… I won’t tell you what it is, though; you’ll just be annoyed afterwards.

Conclusion:

A book whose message I didn’t immediately understand

t first, but as my son had me read the story over and over future trends and potential applications again – although the actual story is told more through the pictures – I gradually understood it.

Eric’s personality is strange to his host family. And yet they respect b2c lead him. They accept him as he is. They get involved with him and in the end they find his very own personal farewell gift.

A touching and loving story, very finely and delicately drawn. In my opinion also suitable for adults.
